M4P in Response to George Floyd’s Death

Muslims4Peace is deeply saddened by the loss of George Floyd at the hands of law enforcement officers, the very people who are supposed to be protecting the rights of everyone.

George Floyd died on May 26, 2020 after a white police officer held him down casually with this hands in his pocket and his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for 8 Minutes and 46 Seconds. During this time, Mr. Floyd was pleading to the officer to allow him to breathe. The video captured on May 26^th by one of the bystanders shows the police officer brutally holding down George Floyd. The witnesses tried to get the police officers to stop, telling them “He’s not even resisting arrest right now.” After several minutes of the officer kneeling on his neck, George Floyd became silent and motionless. Then, showing his total disregard for Floyd, the police officer pulls his dead body by his arms and drags him away. The sister of George Floyd said about the police officers who killed her brother, “They treated him worse than they treat animals”.

May God encompass his soul with His eternal mercy and bless the grieving family with solace to bear this unbearable loss.

Muslims4Peace strongly condemns the senseless murder of one of our fellow citizens and demands that the perpetrators be brought to justice and that they swiftly receive the maximum punishment they deserve for this heinous and inhuman act. Black Lives Matter! Firing these police officers isn’t enough.
