FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
A parent-less holiday is the reality for some children in NJ. The irony of the situation, beyond the fact that NJ is one of the richest places in the world, is that the existence of these kids is not even known. For 2016, the federal poverty threshold is $24,339 for a family of four with two children. Children living in families with incomes below the federal poverty threshold are referred to as poor. But research suggests that, on average, families need an income of about twice the federal poverty threshold to meet their basic needs. In New Jersey, there are 1,077,554 families with 1,980,086 children. Poor Children: 15% (301,070) of children live in poor families (National: 19%)
When Muslims for Peace found out these children do not have a way to celebrate, enjoy a warm meal and open wrapped gifts the organization’s volunteers decided to put on their elf hats and scarves and show these kids a good time. December 8, 2018 at 10: 30 AM will be the 4th annual Muslims for Peace holiday party sharing the cheer of Christmas and holidays and just neighborly love with some of the most at-risk children in Trenton. We hope you can join us and make it even more special!
Let Compassion help you give Christmas donations for needy children this holiday season. You may see your generosity or Christmas donation as a gift for a poor family, but we see it as much more! We will share love to families in the name of Jesus, lots of joy and laughter, a reminder they are never alone, and a hope that tomorrow can be better. Your Christmas gifts for children in poverty can make an impact bigger than you can imagine.
There are 1.9 million Compassion-supported children around the world and let’s start from your state to give them all a gift this Christmas. Will you join us? It’s a unique way to give hope to hurting children. Join us by giving Christmas gifts to those in need this year.
